Question:
Anyone been approved when they have w.l. services in ins. exclutions

My husband has BCBS of SC HMO blue and they have an exclution that services or supplies for obesity and weight lose. Does anyone have this ins. If so is morbid obesity different.    — sarah C. (posted on November 4, 2001)

Yes insurance companies view Morbid obesity differently, the insurance Co.s write it in as an exclusion because they will usually not cover it for just obese people. My suggestion when I talk with members of my insurance co at work who are interested in surgery is always to present the strongest case, Have your doctor do all the medical testing etc.. before they apply for approval. That way you have a much better chance of being approved and not having to get the run around on more info they are requesting.
