Question:
Need advice on treating ileus, slow moving intestine.
I recently learned I have an ileus, and I am wondering if anyone else has this and how it is treated. I find very little "real" information on line so far and am reaching out. Can ileus be caused by infection? Is it caused by our surgery? — Patricia P (posted on September 24, 2014)

It can be caused by abdominal surgery, or just exist on it's own. They use
an NG tube to get excess gases out of the intestines or stomach, and hope
that eventually transit time and gut motility (motion) returns. Not fun.
Slow motility can happen anywhere from swallowing all the way through the
other end of the digestive tract. taking a prebiotic can help, like Aloe,
and a probiotic, like yogurt with active cultures. But check with your
doctor for treatment that is specific to your situation
