Question:
When was the first time you started to actually crave more than your protien shake
I am 1 week post-op and I am so over the taste of the protein shakes. I am staring to want something more, something real and WHOLE. I want to chew on something not drink it. ANY advice? — Jessikah54 (posted on September 29, 2010)

I didn't have that problem at all. Matter of fact I had to force myself to
eat. Probably some will say you have head hunger, thank the good Lord, I
do not think I ever had that either. I was so truly disgusted with my
weight, and I had battled weight for so many years, that I was as pleased
as punch for the weight to come off, that I just stayed on the diet the NUT
gave me. To me now, it is a way of life to eat like this, matter of fact I
am having difficulties keeping weight on.
Good luck!

Head hunger, for me, became very real around one week post op! I had to
really watch myself! At one week I was allowed strained cream soups and
cream of wheat. That really helped!! But ask ur nut before u try! Every
ones surgical situation is different!

i am 10 days out and i had the worse cravings today but i went to trader
joe's and got their tomato basil and pepper low sodium soup and that kills
my hunger actually i can have a piece of low sodium string cheese that
works to...but yeah i wish i had a big fat bacon cheese burger but i know
that sucker would probably be able to eat me before i even take a half of
bite out of it :)

Oh man, plz plz plz dont fall victim to HEAD HUNGER its mind over matter
LITTERALLY
I have never been a big eater so my qualifications for the SURG were
totally different. I had to force myself to eat while not being hungry. I
do my personal shopping at Trader Joes, they have everything I need from
Protein shakes to soups to lactose free ice cream products, also low sodium
and sugar free products...
Keep up the great work you can do it....

I had to do the pre-surgery diet for 8 MONTHS. I drank 3 Atkin's Advantage
drinks every day. Think twice -- Do you want this or not. I would had done
2 weeks on water if that is what it took. I still drink Atkin's several
times a week to keep my protien up.
Best of luck. I know you can and will do this. The old saying " Do it
once and do it right." is so true.
