Soups: canned soups-cream of mushroom, onion soup mix, split pea soup,
tomato, potatoe (homemade). Any chunky soup puree it. My doc allows chili
on puree diet post-op day 4 and forward. Get a few recipe books, or go on
line....unlimited...just type in soup recipes, should get you a ton of
recipes. Hope this helps.

Seven days out I was allowed just plain broth. Each Dr is different in
what they allow you to eat. I had split pea in about 4 weeks and was told
by my NUT that I should not eat that or tomato soup. I am not giving
advice, I am just telling you what my Dr said. Also, please I am not being
negative either, I know it is a tough road and I wish you the best of luck.

I first thought of tomato but wonder about the acid content being too high.
What about chicken broth, beef broth or if you have the discipline the
broth from a can of chicken noodle making ABSOLUTELY SURE that it is just
the broth and nothing you are not supposed to have. Also, as was
suggested, you may be dehydrated so try to up your fluids.

Stay away from Tomato soup. The amount of sugars in it is CrAzY!
Since you're craving salt, and like soup, and NEED protein...try Unjury
protein. They have a chicken soup flavor. You drink it warm, tastes like
chicken noodle soup (without the chicken chunks and noodles), and has the
protein you NEED. Also, I agree with one of the other respondents. If
you're eyeballing salt, you need fluid. Make sure you're getting your water
in. Add crystal light to it if you can't stand it any other way. You might
also try getting a snocone machine (ice shaver). I put crystal light
flavored water over shaved ice, and it's a nice snack, that ensures that I
get fluids while feeling like I'm being "bad".

sugar free popcycle's are very good. Also I was allowed tom soup and I
made it with fat free lactose free milk increasing the amount of protein.
One thing I learned and then a friend told me after. Protein powder and
heat don't mix... she told me not to add protein powder to anything warm
just cold stuff so I add it to carnation instant breakfast no sugar added.
Also popcycles (sugar free) help with dehydration if you're feeling that
way.
