Question:
5 week post op and have only lost 21 pounds. Shouldn't I be losing more ?

RNY or lap-band? I think 21 lbs is great for 5 weeks out. It's different
for everyone. Two lbs a week for lap-band is considered terrific and
you're at 4+. During the the first couple weeks you also have post-op
swelling/gain from all the fluids you were pumped full of regardless of
which surgery you had.

I know how you feel. I am also 5 weeks out on May 4. I have only lost 35
pounds as of last Monday. That includes the 14 pounds I lost on the pre-op
diet. It is frustrating but at least we are headed in the right direction.
I keep telling myself that. Be sure to measure yourself also. I have
found that even though the scale isn't showing much the inches are coming
off. Hang in there and good luck.

I just wanted to comment and say I'm happy for you. Just keep pushing
foward. Be proud of yourself. I haven't gotten my RNY. I can't wait till
it's my turn. No matter how long it takes just know you have done the best
thing for yourself.God Bless you THERESA L

I think you're doing just great. The main thing is to keep doing what it
is that you are doing. If you know that you're going at it by the book,
then you have no worries. Some of us drop it rapidly, and some of us seem
to crawl. But the main thing is to keep in mind that WE WILL GET THERE. I
know it's hard to be patient, though. I'm losing at a snail's pace. It is
so frustrating. But you really cannot compare yourself to others because
so many factors come into play. We all have different metabolic rates,
different abilities to exercise, our ages are a factor, there's just too
much to mention. Just keep doing what you know it right...only weigh
yourself once a week...and be patient with the knowledge that it WILL come
off. Good luck and God bless you! Paula
