Every one is different. You didn't say what you did for work. I was still
getting use to the band, the port, and the new eating requirements. Some
people go back that quickly and others take several weeks.

Hi. I am being banded on April 9. My doctor said that I could go back to
work in 5 days, though he suggested that, if I could, I might want to take
a little longer just to get used to the eating, liquid intake, etc. I have
a desk job, so we don't have to worry about me doing any heavy lifting.
Good luck!

I too have a desk job and had open roux-en-y. I was back to work in 10
days. It really depends on the individual and how well you are getting
around. For the six months leading up to my surgery I really did a lot of
core strengthining exercises and worked to increase my upper body strength.
I am convinced that is the reason I was able to go back so soon.

I had lapband on tuesday Feb 10th and went back to work the following
tuesday. I really could have taken more time off. I was very sore and
exhausted when i went back to work. Im a medical receptionist. And I was
struggling. Everyone is different. I would ask for more time off and then
if you can go back sooner you can...I have had friends who have had this
surgery on a friday and are back to work on monday...
Good Luck

i had it done on a thurday and my docotor said i could go back on monday. i
went back on tuesday and it was way too soon. i had banding done. of course
i teach kindergarten. I basically let the kid do their own thing short of
killing one another. but i was exhausted. I would suggest a least a week to
ten days

I had my surgery on a Monday and went back to work the following Monday. I
felt it was too soon for me. I ended up taking the next day off. The gas
pain in the shoulder was still bothering me, and I was just plain
exhausted. I work in an office setting, but I was beat by the end of the
first day. I think 10 days would have been better for me. I did really
well with the surgery, went home the same day, no nausea/vomiting, etc.,
but the recovery did take longer than I expected. Good luck to you!

You will feel tired and a bit sore most likely. Again, like others have
said, it depends if you are on your feet a lot and also how mentally
demanding your job is. I was able to do half days at first. So that was
just enough for me.

I took off a week, but could had easily gone back even sooner, but I work
in an office. Everyone is different and your body will let you know.
