I don't know your Doctor, but I have done some research and have posted it
on my profile page. You can find it at:
http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/hubarlow/ . You can find my research on
my post titled "Surgical Comparisons." If you can't find it on
the main profile page, look for it in the March 2008 Archives. There are
videos of most procedures and a thorough explanation of each type of
procedure that is commonly practiced today. I hope this helps. Hugh

I know Leo, his partner Nicole is my surgeon. What a great team they are.
I've lost 60 pounds since my lap band was installed in May! Hurray!
They are very thorough. There is a waiting period prior to surgery in
which you are to meet your insurance requirements. That differs from
company to company, so check with your insurer.
There is a monthly support group meeting at the hospital that is available
to those who want to participate. Once you have been approved by your
insurance you will be requested to loose about 5% of your total body weight
in order to make surgery more accessible and less stressful to your body.
The procedure is completed and you will wake up in the recovery room where
you will be well taken care of. One of the nurses that cared for me also
had the lab band procedure done by Leo and she was doing fabulous and was a
grea resource. You will be encouraged to drink small sips of clear liquid
because your stoma or bypass area will be swollen from the surgery. This
is normal. Your body has gone through a trauma, not unlike any accident.
You will also be encouraged to get out of bed and start walking around as
soon after surgery as possible. I was up within 2 hours and was ready for
discharge the next day. I really didn't feel hungry for a couple of days
and kept walking and moving around to prevent gas buildup and also because
there may be some shoulder pain associated with surgery. Keep walking and
you may be able to avoid the pain completely. Afterwards it is important
to continue communicating with your doctor, surgeon, nutritionist and your
support group. Keep active and on the days you feel down about your
decision remember the original reason you decided surgery was going to help
you be the best you that you could be. Be assured you are in good hands
with the Weight Loss Center. Best of luck in your journey!

I too had Dr Nicole Pecquex who works with Dr Leo Claros and I agree with
the other posting - - they are a fabulous team. I honestly can not say
enough good things about them and the staff at Saint Elizabeths - - by far
this is the best thing I have ever done! I only wish I had done it a lot
sooner.
