Hi Toby, I was banned in June and have also had 2 fills and not only to I get hungry but my tummy grumbles. When that happens, I have a small container of yogurt, a slice of some turkey or ham and I'm good for another hour or two. I've lost over 30 lbs since the banding. I do get the "stuck" feeling when I've eaten to fast, not chewed my food well enough or had something to drink too quickly after eating. It is a learning curve. I make mistakes and learn from them. I don't eat a quarter of what I use to and to be honest I'm not as much into food as I was. Best of luck, keep working your diet and exercise and you will be amazed at the person developing before your eyes. Mary-Anne

Hey Toby, I had my lapband on 6-23 and I just got my first fill 8-21. My suggestion to you is to keep busy. Do anything to keep your mind off food. Exercise, read, don't watch TV because it is full of commercials and just those alone will work on your head to kick up your "hunger". A trick I do when I feel like I'm having a tougher time controling my hunger is to have a cup of hot broth. It is hot, there is the flavor and it "fills you up"...also low calories. Just keep at it and try not to think of food. You can do it! Don't let your "head hunger" mess you up.

4 cc really isn't a lot of restriction, yes I know everyone is different. I have been at this for 2 years now and can only tolerate about 4-5 cc's in my band which gives me alot of restriction. On the other hand, I know people who have 10 cc's in their band with some restriction. Probably a couple of more fills will do the trick with getting your band snug and you will be satifsied with much less food. If you have a good amount of restriction and are satisfied and exercising every day, the weight will come off nicely. It does take time to hit the "sweet spot". I didn't notice anything in your question about exercise.... do it daily... it is not optional. Remember, they only operate on our stomachs, not our brains so you have to completely change your life, the Band is only about 5-10% of the game, the rest is the emotional work you have to do. You have to get real with yourself about how you became obese and needed WLS in the first place. You need to completely change your relationship with food. You have to learn to eat until you are satisfied, NOT full. In reflecting on my own situations with food and getting real with myself, I went to some pretty dark places and had to do a lot of work to heal myself emotionally. You have lost 13# in a month, that is amazing. Remember, this is supposed to be a slow, steady process for life. You're doing great. Cut yourself some slack, make yourself your own first priority and get the job done. It is hard, but you're worth it. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

Hang in their, I just had my 3rd fill to 7ccs 8/25/08. I was banded on 4/28/08. So far I have lost 25 pounds. I feel I am almost at my sweet spot. I have more restriction. My band can hold 9ccs, if needed. It will get better, this is a great forum for support. Keep up the good work!!!

I'm curious about how you manged to get two fills in a month. I was always told you could not get your first fill until your surgery has healed, swelling has gone down, etc. This takes weeks to happen. I've gotten 3 fills in 6 months. I have no restriction, and am still hungry all the time also, so the problem is probably not enough cc's yet. I've heard of people getting 7 fills before feeling restriction, so we may be in that group of people. Good luck to you.
