Hello and I wish you well on your new journey, I would say that
complications are not expected but I wouldnt go in thinking it will be the
smoothest surgery, most people have alot of pain. I went had the surgery 6
months ago and have had very little pain at all, a coulpe of cowokers have
had it and had a different experience but all 3 of us still say it was well
worth it!!!!

There are many of us who have had every complication listed and there are
many of us who have had nothing but smooth sailing. The most important
thing is to do exactly as your surgeon tells you and keep very good
communication with him/her. You know your body, if something feels
terribly wrong...call your doctor. He/she has seen it all before.
RNY does take a lot of adjustment and it is a whole new way of life...but
WELL worth it! I have had many complications but would do it again in a
heartbeat! I've talked to others who don't even dump (which ISN'T a
complication, it is a side affect). Just stay on top of what you are
supposed to do and you will be fine! Good luck with your journey! Kim

Complicatios are never expected or anticipated. Everyone is different. I
had no complications at all. I am almost 5 yrs out and I had no problems. I
have maintained my weight loss also. I lost 150LBS. More than I expected.
Good luck and enjoy your new life ahead

No one ever expects complications, but sometimes they happen. Be sure you
have read all the information you can about the surgery and possibilities
and know your facts, be ready for everything, and hope that things go very
well for yourself. Take care. Patricia P.

I am 9 years post op of RNY and had many complications and a lot of pain. I
have talked to others that had no problems. Just go in with no worries or
no scares. I went through mine on my own and had no one there. I wasn't
scared at all and had no worries. Some of the complications I had was
severe some were not. Everyone is different and the body is going through a
big change. Something that takes some time to get used to.

Life is a giant complication...Going into relationships...having
babies...buying a new house...There are complications with
everything...especially surgery. If you live live expecting complications,
what kind of life is that? Yes... some have complications...the risks of
WLS for most who have had surgery outweighs the risks of not having the
surgery...Being morbidly obese and many with diabetes is a complication
worth trading for minor ones...I have had minor comlications with vitamin
deficiencies after 4 years. I also had the best last 4 years that I
wouldn't trade for ANYTHING!
