I had tomato soup that I strained and took out the lumps. I added water or
lactaid milk to them. I also had low salt broths. Any of the Campbell's
Select soups (butternut squash, tomato bisque) I used and just put in
blender to puree more and strained.

I would ask your doctor or nutritionist and go with what they say, because
the postop care varies widely from doctor to doctor. You also don't
mention what kind of surgery you're asking about. I had Lap RNY. At week
two, I could have a small amount of creamed soup each day. Soups like this
don't have much in the way of protein, so this functions more like a snack
than a meal. You should be looking to get your protein in before anything
else. Good Luck!

Check with your surgeon as they all have different rules. I was allowed
Cream of Tomato. I made it withy Cambels and skim milk, and it was not to
acidic for me. I also had the brother from French onion, and I pought
chick broth as well as vegatable and Beef. Beef was my least favorite.
For beef flavor, I cooked steaks for the family and just took a peice and
chewed it up to get the juice and spit it out. Mix up what you take. I was
allowed cottage cheese, fat free early on. I also ran Tuna fish through
the food processor with a small amount of sugar free mayo. Best of success
to you.

I used cream of chicken soup and, if I remember correctly, instant mashed
potatoes. I do think you should consult with the nutritionist or doctor to
be sure.

after 2 weeks my surgeon allowed me to start on soft foods, so all soups
were good as long as they were the low fat and low sodium soups. try fat
free refried beans they were my main staple food. i also ate alot of low
sugar yogurts and of course mashed potatoes, which i can no longer
tolerate. good luck...hope this helps...Holly

Congratulations if you are able to eat soup. I don't eat it has way too
much sodium. I haven't eat soup since my surgery in 1999. I won't subject
myself to that kind of sodium.
