Question:
Weight Loss
I have a couple of questions. I am 4 yrs post op from rny. I basically got down to the weight I would stay. I lost 120 lbs, but 3 months ago I started losing again. I have lost 20 more lbs in 3 months. Any suggestions or common experiences that you can share. I am currently at 128 lbs with is normal weight for my height but I am scared I am going to keep losing and not be able to stop it. keri — Keri M. (posted on January 31, 2008)

well I'm no expert but it would seem to me that you need to eat more. If
you're losing weight then you're not getting enough calories. Do you have
trouble eating? Do you know how many calories you consume in a normal
day?
That would be my first idea and then if you boost your calorie intake and
are still losing weight, a visit to the doctor would be in order.
Good luck.

Hi Keri - I have had somewhat of the same problem. I am only a little
year out and I've lost 113lbs. I weigh and meausre all my food I eat
between 3 - 4 oz of protein for lunch and dinner. My nutritionist told me
to start adding a little more carbs to my diet and I would maintain. I am
currently 120lbs. She also said if I feel hungrier at a particular meal to
add another oz of protein which would make it 4 oz. I just had plastic
surgery to remove the excess skin on my arms and stomach & backside.
There probably was another 8 - 10 lbs. I'll know for sure when I go to my
follow up appt. Now I'll need to add a little more to get me back to 120
or so.
Best of luck.

I am eating. I actually think I am eating more than before. But I do also
have to drink when I eat, so that may be part of the problem. I have an
appt in April but wanted to see responses and see if anyone else had
experienced this.

Hi Keri. Thanks for writing. I am 4 years out too, March as a matter of
fact is my 4 year anniversary! Keri, if I were in your shoes, I would call
my doctor for a full physical. If you are eating normally and losing
weight, I think this has nothing to do with wls, but perhaps is a health
issue. Let them check you out fully. If they can't find the source, then
see your wls surgeon (I go for annual visits). You need to be checked out.
