Question:
Lap-band fills... when will I know I'm full?

I've had two fills (1.0cc then 0.5cc), I feel some restriction after the second fill but... how will I know when my band is tight enough? Will I feel full and then restricted? I've been overweight and an overeater all my life soo I don't really know what to expect!    — C J (posted on November 15, 2007)

This won't really help, but you will know. When you hit the "sweet spot" you just know it. You get full after eating just a little bit. You can't eat very much, but you learn to enjoy what you can eat. Good luck.

Hi Christine, Everyone is different when it comes to having the right adjustment to your band. And your success depends on how aggressive you can be with it. As for me, I was very aggresive in the beginning to get the weight off. Sometimes to the point that I had trouble keeping things down. But this enabled me to lose a lot of weight, 170 lbs from my highest. Was it easy, no...but now that the weight is off I have it adjusted to the point where I can eat and not have problems keeping the food down. I'm two and a half years out and have had about 12 adjustments. I'm about to go in for another because I've put about 20 pounds back on and want to stop that. I've had a difficult time finding my "sweet spot". But if it takes me continue having adjustments to maintain my weight, that's what I will do. Good luck Christine, like I said everyone is different so you just have to find what works best for you.

hi christine, i am 8 months out and on my 3rd fill. i believe they hit my (sweet spot ) this time. was your last fill in the office or raidioligy? i found that the office fill was a was of two monts in that it was too loose. i was able to eat almost a normal sized meal before feeling full. and was hungry after only 2 hours. after this last fill in the xray dept i feel full after about 6oz of food and stay full for 4 hours which i am told is right , since i am starting to take off weight again i aggree. hang in there they will get it right eventually. all a loose fill cost me was 2 months of no weight loss. but i explained that i was able to eat too much and was hungry again to soon and they aggreed to refill the band.

After my 3rd fill I could tell when I was getting full. I got a small hic-cup. If you ignore the hiccup or eat too fast to get the hiccup in tim I feel the food starting to back up into my esophagus like it's "stuck" (I did this early on a couple times). Stop eating the hiccup will be there soon. I did not even think about food in between time then. After about 15 lbs a a few weeks I am now not getting the hiccup, and eating too much, with hunger about every 2 hours. I have my next fill scheduled
