Question:
After lapband, do you have any pain afterwards?
Can you feel that there is something around your stomach area? — Crystal H. (posted on August 31, 2007)

This was my experience, everyone's is different. After the surgery, I felt
fine. But I think that I forgot that there was still pain medication in my
system. Once that wore off, I was very sore. And that night, it was
difficult sleeping because I'm a side sleeper and I wasn't able to sleep on
my side. Make sure that you don't plan ANYTHING for the day after. I was
exhausted. So just sit back, sip your soup, drink lots of fluids and chill.
As far as feeling the band. I still can't feel it. It has been 3 and a
half months and 40 pounds. And although you already know, let me
reiterate...Eat Slowly! This will be your biggest obstacle...I still
struggle sometimes, especially when I'm running late. So take it easy
afterwards. The initial pain goes away pretty quickly and then just enjoy
the weight loss! I know everyone says it's not magic, but right now, it
sure feels like it.

Hi Crystal, everyone is a bit different. I don't generally feel my band,
but occassionally when I am doing certain yoga moves I will feel the band.
It's very rare and I'm not sure what makes it happen. I can do the same
move 50 times without feeling the band and then the next time - I feel it.
Mind you, it's not painful - just kind of weird feeling.
As for the initial pain, mine was more than most since I also had my gall
bladder out. Most band patients feel some minor pain where the port is
attached to the muscle but not really much else.

Hi I am 6 mo post-op and have never felt my band. I do feel my port very
well and on occasion it can still be sore if I bump my abdomen on
something. The more weight you loose the more you feel your port. I don't
know if at some point I will feel my band .It' s alittle wierd feeling
something inside you but certainly worth the weight loss. Good Luck Diane
