Question:
Denied "clinical info provided does not indicate...
if conservative measures were used or their effectiveness." Can someone translate, and what should I do next? Do yu think a round of a diet drug or diet with my PCP would provide what is needed? Thank you so much, Mary — marymatic (posted on March 13, 2006)

Hi Mary,
As part of the letter I am submitting with my insurance forms I included
all the different diets I have tried and the results. I think they just
want to be assured that you have tried to lose weight in the past.

Insurance is UnitedHealthcare, my daughter is almost 21, has sarcoidosis,
knee issues, and a BMI of over 50. She's been on and off steroids since
she was 8 because of the sarcoidosis.
I've had gastric bypass, 5/26/00, and have lost 180 pounds and kept it off
since that time. I'm very diligent - food and exercise - and she has seen
my progress. I fear that the Cleveland Clinic didn't send everything they
should have, she was on a supervised diet and lost 16 pounds, then of
course regained. Other than this 'supervised' diet thru the Clinic, this
is her only truely docmented weight loss try.
Does anything think we should see our PCP for a 'monitored' plan for
documentation then resubmit for approval?
Thanks again, Mary

they are required to comunicate in a lanquage that you can understand, call
them and have them explain them selves and dont accept a answer that your
doctor will explain it. remind them that YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER.. if the rep
can explain it to your satisfaction tell her to get some one who can.
