I too am pre-op. My surgeon has directed me to eat 1/3 of what I normally eat. I have lost around 18 pounds. I am in your shoes now too. I want to eat the foods, (fried etc.) that I know I can't eat later. Also I am getting very nervous about my surgery. I am starting tomorrow back on my 1200 calorie diet, because I want my surgeon to feel confident that I will do what he says prior, during, and after surgery. You might re-evaluate the reasons why you have been loosing, and don't chalk it up, but use it as a growing pain towards the new journey you are about to start. Also I use fitaday.com to journal my calories etc.(there is a free version). If you see it on paper, it might help to remind you why you are going to go through the head hunger, and everything that goes with this surgery. You are probably fighting an emotional rollercoaster, like I am experiencing, and your "normal" friend has always been food. I will say a prayer for you. Good luck on your surgery, and God Bless. If you have lost any weight, or even none, I would bet your surgeon will still go on with the surgery. Take care my friend

Not sure what you surgeon does before surgery but I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks and lost 11 lbs during that time. I did 4 low carb carnation drinks a day plus blenderized soups and and clear liquids. That was a big boost. I did break down once and had to have a burger (shame on me) but right back on track. Are you doing a liquid diet?

To help me stay in control the weeks prior to surgery, I visualized the scale reflecting the required weightloss and I told myself that if I gained before the surgery, the surgeon may just send me home and how embarrassing would that be?? Push lowfat protein and that will help the cravings subside. Lots of liquids and low or no sugar. Eat fruit if you must have sweets! High quality proteins, too. Eggs are great sources of protein if meat isn't your favorite. Good luck. You can do it and look yourself in the mirror and commit to yourself that you will not sabotage your chances for a new life!
