I just had surgery on January 17, 2006 and I can have water, flavored
waters that are sugar-free and non-carbonated, crystal lights (or generic),
broth, bouillon, consomme (chicken, beef, vegetable, sugar-free popsicles,
sugar-free gelatin, tea unsweetened or artifically sweetened; hot or cold,
(black, green, or herbal) decaffeinated is the best, coffee decaffeinated
is best, sugar-free hot cocoa, sugar-free hard candy. During week 2 skim,
1%, ultraskim, superskim milk, fat-free or low-fat soy milk, lactaid, or
dairy smart. But avoid fruit juices, sports drinks, and diet soda or
anything else carbonated. Make sure to have at least 2 quarts a day 64
oz.(8-8 ounce cups). I like to freeze the water, koolaid (sugar-free) and
crystal light and break them up in the bottle. This makes them easier to
drink and its like you are drinking a slush.

I had surgery in June 2005; I drink decaf Tea, crystal light, water, skim
milk and I have tried Nestles carb smart hot choc. (which is quite good),
it's got no fat, 1 g splenda and actually has 2 g protein.

I drank lots of Fruit o2, Tropicana Light Orangeade (100 of vit-C), and
love Ocean Spray Light- sweetened with splenda. Lots of Drs ask people to
avoid carbonated beverages. My Dr is okay with it and I was able to start
drinking small amouts over ice at 6 moths with no problems (but it may be
better to skip it if you have a tender pouch).
But I truly lived on Fruit o2 for a long time and I did drink lots of broth
as well.
