I eat it, but it's been 4 years for me. Being so newly post op, I would
hold off on the stringy stuff.

You can peel the strings off the celery just like the skin from a carrot.

Patrica, my surgeon's post-op protocal is much more different than other
surgeons, for instance I was allowed lean meats and green leafy vegetables
9 days post-op which included raw vegetables, however, celery was one
vegetable I was told not to eat early on. He did allow me to have it after
3 months post-op. The reason being is the strings....I still peal the
strings off when I eat it raw...the strings can be hard on the pouch. If
you do decide to eat it, remove the strings. I really encourage you to
follow your surgeon's instructions, give him/her a call and ask. Dana

So now we know of the strings, but what about the cream cheese? I am going
to call my bariactric professional today to find out.

I had the GBP in 1996 and I was allowed to eat anything I wanted from the
2nd day after surgery as long as it was in moderations. I did eat and I do
eat celery with cream cheese. However I must chew it very very very good
and swallow it very slowly specially in the beginning. Also remember not
to drink and eat at the same time and no carbonated drinks at all.
