Steph,
I would consult my physician first especially since you want to follow his
nutritional plan. Personally, I was not eating stuff like that until much
later. Ultimately, your stomach is going to tell you whether or not it is
time for you to eat something. Different people react to different foods,
differently. Like me for instance, I was 5 months post-op before I could
eat bread of any kind. Where as I know people that were eating bread after
6-8 weeks.
I hope this helps.

steph, The first rule I learned the hard way was don't try any thing new
out side of the privacy of your home . It's not fun to be in the bathroom
heaving your guts out at a party. When I was new to all this I would get
really sick on some foods an then I new not to try them again for quite
awhile .The first time I tried scrambled eggs I was 3 weeks out an got sick
I was down for 2 days no water no vitamins no nothing I couldn't hold
anything down so please don't rush it listen to your body its very aware
of what it will take. good luck an merry Christmas. look on the bright side
buy the 4th of July you'll be able to enjoy the family get together an look
great doing it.

what is your Dr's protocol in this regard. Honey ham sounds a bit much so
soon after surgery. Our patients eat nothing that ever walked swum or flew
untill goal weight. But there is plenty of high protein foods available
that do not fall into this category. I think you might just skip the ham
for this Christmas and wait untill next Christmas. Think of how fanatastic
you will look in a smart new dress and you are at your goal weight or close
to it all because you worked with your surgery. Don't worry about what you
can eat, just take something with you to eat for this seasons parties ,
that way you wont spoil others and yourself's xmas by being sick and
heaving in the WC because you ate the wrong thing. You will still have a
merry xmas if you put your mind o it.

In addition to what the others have posted in reply to your query, I would
be leary of eating anything cooked or cured in honey this soon from the
date of your surgery. Really easy to become ill even from the slightest
hint of any of the sugars this soon out. Not the way you want to spend the
holiday with your family.

Oh My Honey I am about 3 and a half months out and I made a ham for my
family the other night for dinner cooked in verners pop which is very sweet
and I was sick as a dog....too sweet. I am thinking that Honey will be
much worse, but we are all different. It's all trial and error for each
individual after surgery it's learning how to eat all over again. I think
it's too early but it's your choice if you want to try it or not...it may
ruin the rest of your day. Be careful, Merry Christmas and good luck on
your journey. Franca

Hey, I am 7 weeks post op, and still have a hard time eating regular food
espically meats. I can tell you at 12 days, you shouldn't try it, your
tummy is too new to have something this harsh, unless you puree it....
Sounds yummy, liquid ham.... (actually I would not recommend it) I know it
is hard to eat nothing but yogurt. I hated it too.

Steph, I am 3 years out and I still have to watch the surger in food. I
dump on Honey and have dumped on Ham. This is not something I want to do at
a dinner party. If the sugar don't get you the fat may. If you want to try
anything make a small turkey breast. This is a time to enjoy the people you
are with and make food a secondary attraction.
