Question:
I am looking for a surgeon in Mobile, Alabama who performs the LAP-BAND.

I live close to this area and this is where I would like to find a surgeon. The last surgeon I talked to only did open RNY and DS. I am also wondering about insurance covering the surgery? I was approved 3 years ago for open RNY through my insurance, but I'm not sure it will cover the LAP-BAND. And I have decided that if I am going to do this, THIS is the only way I am going to go about it.    — Leigh H. (posted on December 1, 2005)

They say the percentage rate for having to go back and have Open RNY after you have had the Lap band is very High... they lose but then gain back really fast Iv heard...What a shame to go through such surgery and then have to fight to have it redone....Id talk to some others about this before I made the final decision. One time round should be enough... just something to think about.... good luck Hugs Flo

Flo, i understand where you are coming from. But my question HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH DEBATING RNY VS. LAP-BAND. i have already decided what i want. i just need to find a qualified surgeon to perform the procedure. please understand that my next statement may seem mean, but you apparently need to hear it. sometimes people don't want unnecessary advice.

I don't know of a surgeon in Mobile. But, I know of an excellent surgeon in Pensacola, Florida at Sacred Heart Hospital. He does lap band surgery and his patients do wonderful post op. Dr. Jeffery Lord (850) 416-1628.
