Question:
have any distal rny's ever experienced any health related problems
I want to know if any distal rny's, that have had their surgery done a while ago, have experienced health related problems associated with the malabsorption. What other related problems from the distal-rny may there be? Any answers are welcome. — twenc (posted on May 11, 2000)

My surgery was last fall, and you are probably looking for folks with more
post op history, but I'll over my .02 anyway.
The only problems I've encountered are slight anemia and possible vitamin K
deficiency ... blood tests picked up on these,
and they are being addressed.
My health is so vastly improved since last fall that I'm surprised every
day. How could I have this much energy? When will
it disappear? Following my doctor's instructions (and benefiting from his
surgical skill), along with those of my nutritionist, are the key to
the success I'm enjoying. I have had no digestive problems of any sort
that some distal patients complain of, but I also don't eat anything that
might trigger dumping syndrome.
I'm living again ... and it keeps getting better. Cindy
