Question:
Has anyone had weight gain 2 years after surgery?
I am 2 years out, and have seen some weight gain-about 8 pounds-in the last few months. Is this common? What is the experience of other long term post ops? — NANCY T. (posted on July 10, 1999)

I'm almost 5 years. Same weight for nearly 4 of 'em. I'm a distal gastric
bypass. You have to work hard to gain it back with this one. If one of us
starts messing with milk & sugar or skipping protein supplements, THEN
you coudl gain. The other option would be a staple line disruption. And
you didn't say which procdure you had???

The surgery is not foolproof, yes there can be weight gain, but you really
have to be pushing your limits SEVERLY. The doctor told me a 20 pound
regain is NORMAL. So I wouldn't worry about 8 lbs, just be aware and keep
working on the food issues if your overdoing it. Good luck. Allison
