Question:
I sure would like to see more people fill out a
profile so that when people ask a question on OH, the people that answer it can get a better understanding or read a little history behind them. It really helps to know a little about the person. Sometimes people don't say in their post what type of surgery they had and then the people that answer can go to their profile and read more info to be able to give a better detailed answer. I really hope a lot people read this post and fill out their profile. We are a friendly group here, and it would be nice to take the time for a profile. — Kristy (posted on September 17, 2009)

I agree with your suggestion! I'm awaiting insurance approval and I find
this site to be extremely helpful. I spend alot of time reading the
Q&A - which has been so informative. I am surprised how many people do
not have a profile. I so appreciate being able to read the profiles and
history including the ups and downs. I'm trying to get as educated as
possible and the realistic views and candid stories are so important to me
as I go through the process. I look forward to "paying it
forward" to others after my surgery. THANKS!

I agree with the previous poster. I too am awaiting approval and like to
look at profiles, but I skip right past the ones with no information. I
love the updates profiles and looking at their pictures for education and
inspiration!

I haven't filled out a profile because in this day and age it's a bit
scarey to me to give out info about myself. One never know's who is
reading it. 99% of the readers are on the up and and up but what about the
ones who are looking for mischief/ That's what concerns me. I would
appreciate other people's feedback on that.

I have my page filled out but private, reason being last 2 years i have
been dealing with a guy who claims he likes big women but then steals their
photos and posts them on his yahoo groups for losers to look at...i came
about this thanks to a friend who saw me in a youtube video calling me
Massive Michele. I would never call my self anything like that, and those
photos that were being used were only on one site...here on OH...so that
loser came here to a site that is about helping ourselves with our health
and he is making lite of it so now i am very guarded with my photos...

People don't need to post personal information as to where they live etc.
I was refering to the story of how and why you decided to have wls. A lot
of people reading that are new to the site that are feeling alone may read
someone's profile and know that they are not alone in the battle to over
come being over weight. That is my thought and where I was going with the
profile. I know for myself, I can't help or answer someone's question
fully if they don't elebrate on it, I can't go into their profile and read
more to see where they are coming from. I guess I am just to helpful.

I agree for more information. I'm still evaluating the choices (lap band,
RNY, or none). I want to know everything people have and are experiencing
both pre-op and post-op. It is a big decision but I'm having trouble
getting or finding information from people to trust on sites. I was
directed to this site by my surgeon yet see very little interaction of
local patients experience and feelings.
