HI
I dont know what % isnt absorbed but from what I understand it only last
about a year and then u begin absorbing 100% of your calories...that is why
the 1st yr is so crucial in weight lose

There is not a standard anwser since everyone has a differant interaction
with the surgery. Some people can do fats, some can do sugar, others can't.
Some absorb more than others. It is very individual. This is why you do not
geta fixed response to the question.

Hi Buffy,
The answer depends on how much of your intestine is bypassed during
surgery. The more that is bypassed, the less you absorb. Also, not all
foods are absorbed the same way. Liquids are absorbed faster than solids.
Sugars are faster than protien etc.. Yes, it does last the rest of your
life. That is why vitamins and protein supplements are required. I do know
too, that it depends on what type of surgery you have. If your pouch
expands over time you will eat more, so you will absorb more.

I was told it is about 10%, but like others have stated, it varies with
everyone. This is just an average. Paula B.
