For my PRE_OP liquid diet I used slim fast high protein formula. Caranation
SF instant breakfast and milk. These two things kept me full and kept me
going. If I felt hungry - I did one of these two and felt full until the
next "meal". I also did Campbell's low sodium chicken soup with
the noodles drained out - regular chicken broth was SO disgusting. you can
usually find the chicken soup at the .99 store. I did. 3 for .99. My
husband would eat the noodles, LOL. Still does when I have to do liquids
for a few days after pissing off my pouch. Good luck.

You can purchase protien supplement drinks or choose another method. Your
surgeon may want a strict liquid diet the last few days or the week prior
to surgery. My surgeon had no "liquid diet", he just wanted some
wt loss between the 3 week preop appt and the surgery date. During these 3
weeks:
I watched portion control.
Limited refined carbs (breads, pasta, pastries)
Gave up sodas
Stopped eating after dinner while I watched TV
Did some small amount of exercise daily
Tried to eat as much high protein foods as possible
Result was a 17 pound wt loss in these 3 weeks. This "last minute
weight loss" is designed to greatly reduce fatty liver deposits. These
liver deposits obstruct the surgeon's LAP procedure. If too many liver
deposits are there, the surgeon's only option may the the OPEN procedure,
which leaves a big scar, and takes longer to heal. DAVE

My preop diet was 1000 cal aday, 350 per meal
I used lean cuisine which I found for 1.99 at can food outlet, 1/2 c cooked
vegies 2 c non cooked. 1 90 cal yogurt or 1/2 fruit
sugar free pop, popsicles, etc all I wanted
I did also substitute slim fast between meals for a meal to equal 1000 cal
best of luck Tammi

I used slim-fast low carb for my pre-op diet. I bought the large case at
Sam's and it was very affordable. Around $1 a can. It's only for a few
weeks so, even if I didn't like the falvors, I just dealt with it. Good
luck.

My Dr. had us do a 2-week liquid diet prior to surgery. SF popsicles, SF
jello, SF pudding, chicken noodle soup WITHOUT the chicken noodle (smile),
tomato soup, yogurt, Crystal Light...it was a pain-in-the-butt !! It did
get a bit easier after about the 3rd day...Good Luck to you ~ and hold on
tight 'cause you're in for quite a ride !! :-))

Hi Dawn,
My name is Patty. I am a distributer for a company named Advocare. I am
responding because I would like to share with you some information about
the products. Visit my website at www.advocare.com/09033631 Please feel
free to call me for more information at 715-879-4065 or 715-577-7344. The
shakes have 24 grams of protein but look at the ingredients. I will be
seeing my surgeon for the first time on Wednesday for weightloss surgery.
My sister had the surgery about 5 years ago and is struggeling with her
weight, so she has started the shakes and slims to get her weight back
under control. I can't remember when she had her's, was it clear liquids
only prior to surgery or only liquids of any type. I hope I can be of help.
This is why this website is so awesome. Those of us with weight issues know
the battle. Good luck to you!
Patty
