Question:
Is there a revision on the Roux-en-y and Duodenal Switch?
I am almost 8 years out and have maintain my 150 lb. loss, but at one point starting gaining weight. I exercise 3 times a week and continue to try and eat right. I was told by a friend who had the same surgery she had heard there is a revision (correction) to Roux-en-y/Duodenal Switch (which is what I had). If anyone can help me I would love to know. It is called the ROSE procedure. (Restorative Obesity Surgery,
Endoscopic). It is quite safe and simple. It is done endoscopically. A
probe is inserted down the throat to the stomach and folds are created to
restrict the stomach. People are having great results with losing weight.
Some of the requirements are: You have had to had surgery over 2 years
ago. You have had to lost a substantial amount of weight. You have had to
gained back at least 50 percent of that weight. I don't know if insurance
covers it, I can't imagine it is very expensive because it can be done as
an outpatient or overnight. If you want more details, just Google the ROSE
Procedure and you will find a slew of good information. I assume this is
the revision your friend was talking about. I know that the other
revisions are very expensive and risky. Good luck.

First off, congratulations on the maintain! That is awesome. I hope to lose
that same amount myself. I am on my journey to a lighter me now and
awaiting insur approval.
Did you have Roux-en-Y or the Duodenal Switch? I'm no expert but I don't
believe there is a revision possible after Duodenal Switch. It is the most
aggressive of the WLS types and there isn't much intestine left to bypass.
I don't know if RNY can be revised so I want to direct you to the Revision
boards here on OH if you don't get an answer here. Also if you had RNY I
have heard of a procedure called the Rose and also Stomaphyx. Again, sorry.
I don't have enough knowledge but I believe them to have something to do
with tightening a stretched stoma. I've read others say it wasn't very
promising. If you don't feel your stoma is stretched you can return to the
basics as both surgeries are just tools. We have to work them with diligent
pursuit of healthy, portioned eating and regular exercise. Best wishes for
continued weight maintenance. Sounds like you are doing fine.

I'm no expert, but is three days a week enough excercise? I'm almost 2
years out and excercise a minimum of two hours per day/seven days a week,
or I gain!. Good Luck and bless you for keeping as much off as you have
for so long.
