It's perfectly normal for you to stop losing weight for days/weeks at a
time. It might be the first time but it definitely won't be the last. It's
your body's way of "surviving". After the big change(surgery)
your body went into shock and now it's kind of waking up from it, thinking
that it's starving so it's going into survival mode. If you haven't made
any changes to your diet/exercise regime then it's not your fault and you
haven't done anything wrong. Don't get discouraged, stick with it and you
will start losing again. Congratulations on your weight loss so far and
good luck with the one you have left to go :)

I see nothing on your profile or this post to indicate what type of surgery
you had. If you had lapband, the wt loss progresses at a slower rate than
RNY. If you had RNY, then your wt loss is not bad for 3 1/2 months. Either
way, patience is needed in this process, as it does take time. DAVE

I too was trying to see what surgery u had but it was not posted I did see
in your weight track that u have been loosing 7 lbs in 23 days and 6 prior
to that in a shorter amount of time:) I may suggest upping your protein and
your exercise u may be just holding on at this point, do not give up. u r
doing great, I had RNY 7-08 I am loosing slow at this time. I hit a stand
still then after walking and upping my protein it starts again, things are
going to go slow especially the closer u get to your goal Best of luck

I had this happen. Check out hybernation in regards to bariatric surgery.
Your body, as the other commentors have said, can go into a hybernation
period in which it hangs on to everything it can because it is in total
shock and it can be delayed. You can google it. That is where I got all
of my info and then I talked to my doctor about it. Good luck.

Hi Cathy,
I'm guessing we had our surgery about the same time. I had the realize
lapband surgery on Oct. 17, 2008 and have lost just at 38 lbs. so I would
be happy if I were you. I went 5 weeks and bounced back and forth 3 lbs up
and 3 lbs down. I went yesterday for my 3rd fill and my doctor said I was
doing great and the slowing down periods were normal. I have two friends
that had lapband and they too have gone through these periods. Just be
patient and keep doing the right things and it will start falling off
again. If you want to just contact me anytime. Good luck and hope to hear
about less of you next time!! ;)

It sounds like I am on the same boat with you as to my weight loss and how
much more I have to lose. I wish I could start losing too. It is driving me
crazy.

This is called a stall. Are you seeing other changes to your body? Are
you seeing inches reduced or other non-scale weight loss? My scale does
that it won't move for weeks. I'm 3 1/2 mos out but I notice other things
that have changed. Write those events down because it's important to
remember when they happened.
