Question:
Morning sickness and having a scope redone
I had surgery on July 14th and have had one meal of mashed potatoes and pudding. I woke up the next day and felt like something was stuck. Its been a week and I go tomorrow to get have a scope done and possible stretching. But my big question is I feel pukey (can't spell) all the time I don't know if its because I haven't had real food in 4 weeks just liquids or if it's b/c the surgery alone. My biggest fear was getting something stuck and now I am sooo afraid to eat real food again. I know this is like 4 or 5 questions. but I need HELP!!! — IamMrsMcDole (posted on July 29, 2008)

I wouldn't have had mashed potatoes for my first meal, they are like glue.
Cottage cheese w/applesauce or any blenerized fruit with no skin. maybe a
little tuna with bit of light mayo. Think Protein first!! And there are
possibilities that the opening is too small. Good Luck and God Bless. Hope
this helps.

Maybe you have a stricture?
I hope you get answers soon and I'm so sorry you feel so bad!

Hi Jessica,
I had my surgery on July 16th. Thank God that I have not experienced one
sick moment yet....lot of gas though. I have not even graduated to mashed
potatoes. Try to stick to the food guidelines. You and I are both
basically still at the 2 week mark since the surgery. Those areas inside
are still very sensitive. My 3 daily meals consist of a variety/any of the
following of sugar free pudding, low fat cream of chicken soup, sugar free
popsicles, natural apple sauce, jello and EAS protein drinks. I measure
the soup and only take 3-4 oz as directed. I get full, but not to the
point where I am overstuffed.
I hope that this helps and also when you go to the doctor, they will be
able to help you.

In Jessica's defense, mashed potatoes (with no fat) ARE on the list of
foods from my surgeon, too, for the first 2 weeks out from surgery. My
surgery was July 17, and I've had mashed potatoes about 1.5 oz each time,
twice. She seems to be following her diet; must be something else.
Blessings to you Jessica ... hope your scope finds your problem and you'll
be fine soon!!
