Why would someone want to do that?

This is the 2nd time i have heard this on this site this week. If you had
RNY and now you need the lap band you didnt use your tool correctly. Rny
Bypass is more effective than lap band. Sorry to all thr lap band people
but it is. You lose weight quicker and its harder to eat certain things. So
you didnt do what you were supposed to do.

Yes you loose more with rny but they are proving their is alot of
percentage of bypass patients gaining their weight back. And with the band
with the restriction the weight stays off.I am a bander.Sandy Hanson I dont
want to step on any toes ,but this is what my Grat surgeion says and he did
bypass for over 29 years,he still does some.

Good Lord People, It was just a simple question that I asked. I am getting
all these hateful emails. All I wanted to know is it there is anyone else
like me, who had RNY done, then had a lapband. I had RNY done 7 years ago,
I was 485lbs. I am down to 278 and I am having the lapband out on. If you
cant answer the question or just want to tell me I didnt use the RNY tool
correctly, the DON'T ANSWER and stop sending me private emails. I thought
the people on this site were supportful, well thanks alot for the
supportful answers.

Rebecca, ...sorry you feel beat up with your question, but when you post a
question you are asking for peoples opinions and thats what you got. Just
simply take what you want from them and dismiss the rest. Actually from
what is in this post, nobody said anything hateful to you. Sometimes we
need to hear things we don't like. Don't take things so personnally. Some
day you may give a poster some harsh advice too. I wish you the best in
your adventure. As for the private emails being rude or mean, if you dont
like it, block them. We all walk in the same shoes, some are further along
then others. You will find certain people that you have faith in their
answers and you like where there at.. you can always send them a private
question asking their advice. But again, please dont take things so
personally.

"You didn't use your tool correctly..." I hate when people get on
OH and act "holier than thou" about RNY & weight loss. Give
her a break.. She asked a perfectly normal question... She didn't get to
her goal with RNY so I can see why you're wondering about this. I honestly
don't have any light to shed on this but I am curious what relevant answers
you will get.

Rebecca, I see more RNY people on this web site than lapbanders. I didn't
have RNY because of the absorption problems people encounter, B 12 and
iron. I am happy with my lap band and I feel that you need to do what you
need to do. After all this surgery is about you and what happens to you
may be very different that what happens to others. Hang in the and find a
supportive person who can listen without being an expert on you. They're
an expert on themselves, not you. JulieD

Some people have a lapband done after a RNY because of medical problems
such as a pouch not made small enough in surgery, ulcers that block exit
and enlarge stomach pouch (yes, it can happen).

I had the LapRNY done in 2005 and it has not been successful. And YES I did
use my tool correctly! I also have been considering having a revision/lap
band. It is not about people using the tool incorrectly. EVERY person is
different and heredity along with their reactions to surgeries,
medications, etc. plays a role in their success. MY dad had an open RNY in
2003 and it was also semi-successful. We both followed the doctors orders
to the letter and work out at least 5 days a week. So please, if someone
says they have not had success with their procedure, do not outright blame
them and say that they did not use their tool correctly.

I'm a bit late getting to your question, but I have been wondering this
myself. My RNY was successful but I have been gaining weight again and I
am horribly depressed about it. And if I get any lectures from anyone on
this site, let me tell you early on - "go to hell". You have NO
idea, unless you're in an identical place, what could be going on with
someone. I have been placed on 2 medications that are suspect, as well as
an ulcer that developed at the intestinal attachment site. I can still
only eat very little and still vomit too often. While I can't answer your
question, I just want to say good luck and god bless. I have questions of
my own, but after reading some of the hateful, vicious comments on this
site, I think I'll go elsewhere for help.

Thank God someone else asked this question. I had my RNY done 2.5 years ago
and did GREAT for quite some time. But then I was in an accident and now
due to fractures in my right foot, advanced arthritis in my left knee and
worsening spinal stenosis in my back, my ability to ambulate has decreased
enormously, even though I have lost over 100 lbs. I am NOT eating any
differently, but because I can exercise so minimally (and yes, before
everyone suggests it, I DO swim as much as I can!) I am slowly starting to
gain some weight. My Orthopaedic surgeon says he wants me to lose at least
another 50 lbs before he feels comfortable operating on my spine, as he
will have to either put pins in or fuse vertebrae. And he would love to see
my knee replaced first and my foot bones fused too. But again, all that
needs me to lose more weight so the recovery will be more hopeful. I want
to find out if I can get a lap-band or sleeve now to help get the extra
weight off. I am really at my wit's end here. So please,..no hate mail. I'm
truly doing the best I can with a body that just doesn't seem to want to
cooperate.

to respond to joan colins, your statement is absolutely not true you should
do some more research, if for medical reasons after rny is completed the
only way to fix a fistula on a stoma if you have other problems is to do a
lap band. you should not give advise about something if you dont do your
research.
