I have found that some people are not tolerant to "whey". Why
not try a protein that does not contain "whey".

which one is it? how are you making it up? if it doesn't say lactose free
or very low lactose, that can be causing the gas or if you're mixing it
with milk, try water

I use the New Whey liquid protein 42g in a compact 3 oz bullet and I've had
no problems with gas. Good luck!!

I also use the New Whey Liquid Protein daily and have no problems with gas.
This product comes in three pretty good flavors and takes care of most of
your daily protein requirement.

Whey protein is the preferred protien for us per quite a few nutritionists
and surgeons. I don't see why it wouldn't be ok to continue. You NEED at
least 70+ protein mg's per day. Good luck!
