How long did it take to get approved by insurance that has BC/BS of MN

I has bcbs of nd and it took two years.But I finally won.Had surgery(lapband)March 15-07

Hi, I have BCBS MN and the approval process took 6 months, which I think is pretty standard. If you already have a Dr's documented history of dieting and such (and a BMI of more than 40) the approval time will likely be much shorter. I would strongly encourage you to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask for the requirements for whichever surgery you are considering. Also, do you already have a Dr or clinic picked out? Often when you're working through someone, they will handle all the insurance requirements for you. Best of luck!!! Marilyn
