Question:
I'm 6 months out and wondering how many ounces am i suppose to be consuming?

I feel like I'm eating too much and stretching my stomach. Like for dinner I ate boneless, skinless chicken tenders that equal 2.8ozs and some pasta, but afterwards I don't feel like I over ate physically, but mentally I do.    — glennk (posted on November 7, 2006)

i felt the same way the first couple of months out. you're probably fine. if you continue to feel that way at one setting then don't eat so frequently (if that's a problem also). as a matter of fact i often feel that way now and i'm 13 months out. hope this helped

I am pre-op but I think you shouldn't be eating pasta, always have protein first then veggies then carbs. The pasta is probably causing you to feel full. the chicken tenders are breaded and should probably be avoided too.

I'm 4 months post-op and know I have to be very careful with portions because "sometimes" my body will let me know I've eaten too much and sometimes it won't! I agree with the one above....limit carbs and sugar!!!

It was about the 6-month mark that I began to see another change in how much I could eat. It was as if my pouch was taking another "step" in it's relaxing process. Some days I could eat more than others, it depended - and still does - on what it is that I eat. I'm almost 3 1/2 years out. As far as pasta is concerned, to this day I still love pasta and still indulge. (Notice I said indulge, not OVERindulge!) Some types of pasta I can eat, some I can't. Anything like spaghetti or linguine - anything long - I can only manage about a quarter of a cup, or less, I think it gets tangled up and won't go down. But that's okay. It lets me enjoy the pasta without over doing it. As you can see I'm not fanatical about "Never letting a carb cross my lips" but I DO watch them very closely. You do want to make sure that the protein you are putting in your body is all good, lean, natural protein, not processed and full of other 'junk'. The protein is so important, it's what our bodies need to maintain our muscle and regenerate new, and lets not forget that it lets our bodies burn the fat for energy! Hang in there, but remember just because it feels like you can eat more than you should you don't want to push it.

For me it was not how many ounces but I was to eat only 1/2 cup of food at a time. Now, every doctor has their own protocol on this. You may want to recheck your paperwork or get in contact with your doctor's office and double check with them as to what the proper answer is to the question. But my opinion on your question is that you did not over eat. You of course know about the eating slowly and not with liquids, etc. Chris
