Does anyone know how long we will lose for and/or what is the longest a plateau will last. I am so worryed I have stopped. Thank you — bntfive (posted on November 3, 2006)

The rule of thumb is 18 months but I have a friend who is 2 years out and
still losing. If you have slacked off on your protein and water you will
slow down your weight loss too.

The only way to get out of a plateau is to shock yr body. Try different
exercises, and or at different times of the day. And congrats for all the
weight you have lost thus far!

Hi !!
I am just 2 weeks shy of my 6 month and I have plateaued for a month and
then I "shocked" my body back in again. I think the body has to
take time to get use to the amount of weight it has lost. Just keep up
with the protein, water and excercise and keep the faith!

Patricia add more protein to your diet through such as Protein Shakes. Also
here is a Plateau Buster:
#1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau
#2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day
#3 - You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your
vitamins/minerals supplements each day (some suggest at least 60 and up to
80 gr)
#4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a
day
beef
pork
chicken
turkey
lamb
fish
eggs
low fat cheese
cottage cheese
plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?)
peanut butter
beans/legumes
You may also have:
sugar free popsicles
tea or coffee
sugar free jello
broths/bullion (sp?)
crystal light drinks
#5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!!
#6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily

You will! Continue with the protein and water and patience AND resisting
temptation to eat carbs and sugar...and, appreciate the fact that you're
NOT going up! Congrats! You've done well! :O)

hi, Patricia, you can lose more weight and you can also gain more weight.
Just still try to consume as much liquids as you can. I drink only Water. I
will be 1 yr out on Dec. 6,2006. I have lost 108lbs. and still losing but
it's much slower now. I still watch what I eat. If, I go out I do alot of
Mexican or Chinese food. I DO NOT indulge in anything. I really don't think
that I ever will. My lil stomach won't let me. I am very happy with my
weight. I'd like to lose 22 more lbs.

The honeymoon period is 18 to 24 months, so you have more than enough time
to lose the remaining 30 pounds to get to your personal goal. Another
thing to remember is that while you may not see the scale coming down, you
may still be losing inches. If you are exercising (which you should be)
you may be putting on muscle mass that weighs more than fat. So don't
watch the scale, your clothes will let you know if you are losing inches or
you can get yourself a tape measure.
