Question:
Does a fistula repair mean going back to square one?
I have to have a fistula repaired...does this mean starting over completely? Back to the clear liquids and everything? Just curious as I am almost 4 years post-op. — KissMeCate (posted on October 11, 2006)

I too have developed a gastric fistula...and am scheduled for revision
surgery .....and they have described it like going back to square 1. It's
a open surgery 5-7days in the hospital and 4-6 weeks recovery.
Interestingly enough I'm also 4 years post-op. Good Luck

My surgeon told me that it would be a laproscopic procedure to fix my
fistula. 2-3 days in the hospital and I can go back to work with in a week.
You should find out if it can be done laproscopic. Good Luck!

Wow!!! Me Too, I am 4 years post -op and I go in the morning to see my
Doctor, to set up a surgery date to repair mine. He said it was like
starting over at step one. I hope it can be done lap? One or two days in
hospital. Well, I wish you and everyone the best of luck and pray all will
be fine...

What a good question. I have a gastrogastric fistula too. I have had 1
endoscopic closure and I have to have another closure attempt next week. I
have alot of questions just like you. LIke if this endoscopic closure
fails, will I have to go to the OR? I'm 3 years post op. I hope your
surgery goes well.
Could you keep my updated on your progress?
