What is the average time out of work after surgery? My doc says 4-6 weeks

Depending on your surgery - I'm sure.. But I was out only 1 week. I had
LAP RNY and only took 1 week off. I then worked the second week from home.
I wish I would have taken 2 weeks off. but 4-6 weeks - no way. I was back
to normal mainly after the first week. Good luck!

It all depends what kind of job you do and what type of surgery you are
having. I went back after six weeks and I had lap rny but I work in
manufacturing and I don't think I could have went back to much sooner. You
need to rest and get started in your new life. Goodluck.

I took 2 weeks off as I am a Director of Nursing in a nursing home. Other
than being tired, I did fine. Shelly

I had RNY and scheduled 6 weeks off. I took 7 and still wasn't feeling all
that well. It really depends on how your body reacts to the surgery. I
had a terrible time....

I had open RNY, I took off work for 6 weeks, only because I had 6 weeks
vacation built up, I could have returned to work probably after 3 or 4
weeks if I wanted to.

I had open RNY almost 3 weeks ago. When I went to see the dr last Friday,
he said I could go back whenever I wanted. I'm an accountant though, so it
does depend on your job and how you feel. I took the extra week because my
family thought it'd be a good idea. Good luck!

I was a revision (rny) to a DS. With my RNY I was off for two weeks. With
the revision to DS, it was 4 weeks, and I wish I could take another 2.
