Lorrainne, it depends on your specific insurance policy, alot of companies
have the same insurance company but it depends on any exclusions written in
your policy.. please call you human resources dept. ask if you can have a
copy of the exclusions so that there are no surprises.. good luck.

Hi Lorraine- my surgery was 8/15/05 with Aetna..This time last year- when I
was speaking with them, they kept talking about exclusions to my policy-
but my (corporate) policy wasnt up for renewal until Oct'05. There were NO
exclusions for the current poilcy - but effective with the new one in OCT-
there would be and exclusion for this specific surgery. This way- instead
of Aenta denying you- they have you fighting with your HR to get the
coverage. Some mighty fine tap dancing by Aetna all right.
So check for your excluded benefits- see when does it come up for renewal
& what would it take for your company to include it.
The other thing with Aetna is- the 6month med supervised visits
I recommend you do this- and its not important if you lose weight- matter
of fact- I lost & gained 10lbs in 6mos. I did NOT want Aetna saying-
well you lost 40lbs and you dont need surgery..so thats the other thing to
look out for! If you have any questions- let me know - DONNA

Lorraine:
My husband and I were both approved by Aetna in January, 2006, and had
surgery in March, 2006. In conversations with other people, I found that as
of the renewal date for coverage in 2006, they are no longer covering
bypass surgery (very short-sighted).

Mine was approved in October 2005, but Aetna had a bunch of requirements
and then they didn't approve the verticle, it was the rny instead. It was a
long tedious jump (not trying to discourage you). If you want more info on
my journey, you can read up on my posts. Sorry for all of your troubles, if
you're having them.
