Question:
Weight loss post op

I will be 7 weeks post-op tomorrow. I have lost 30 pounds, I have watched others that have lost more than that. I have not lost any weight for about 10 days. Does anyone have an advise for me. Should I contact my surgeon? I have been told this was normal/okay. I also was told be another rny patient that she did not lose very much weight until the 3rd month and then it melted off. Has any one heard this before. Please help as it is very depressing not be losing weight. Thank you    — 2bskinny (posted on March 28, 2006)

Don't worry. People all lose weight at different speeds. I was at your speed and I will be 8 months out next week and have lost 120lbs. I have also gone through 3 plateaus, one of which I am on right now. That is your bodies way of catching up with everything that is going on. My first plateau was at about 2 months out and lasted 2 weeks. Just make sure you are getting your protein, water, vitamins and exercise and you will be fine.

HI Katrina, there are definitely weeks that you will lose slower than others.. if you feel you are in a rut, take a step back and do your liquid diet (shakes, soups, etc,..) for a few days, drink lots of water and exercise as much as you can and that will kick start you!! Keep your chin up!! You will lose.. I am almost 5 months out and down 81 pounds as of today.. Take care and best wishes to you!! April :)

As long as you follow your doctor instructions you don't have to woory about anything. The first 2 month I did not loose any weight. I start dropping weight the 3rd month and the first year I lost 102 Lbs. It took me 5 years to reach my goal weight. I started at 307 Lbs and I weight now 135 Lbs. I followed my doctor and the nutritionist advise and did not give up. No drinking and eating at the same time and no sodas. I hope I am able to help Dani

Everyone loses weight at different paces. There are so many outside and inside forces which control this..Unfortunately all you can do is make sure to keep your spirits up and keep you head in the game....Just know that this time unlike any diet there is ABSOLUTELY a success story waiting to happen....Dont get yourself down about this....You have already overcome more than most people would ever have the guts to do...your body jsut has to catch up...good luck! email if you need any inspiration ia m 3 yrs post op down 175 lbs and 23 yrs [email protected]
