Question:
Has anyone had pain in their back, around the kidneys, when they eat a too much?
I'm two and a half years out from RNY. I noticed last summer when I'd eat a little too much I'd get a dull throb near my spine on the right side and occasionally on the left. It wouldn't stay long and after a little research in the Q&A archives I chalked it up to being "backed up" (not being as regular as I once was). I've since fixed that problem, but on occasion I'm still having the pain. My stoma is much larger than it should be so I can eat more, by more I mean sometimes a cup and half versus a cup. I've read about WLS patients getting pancreatic tumors after surgery and I suppose this is what is in the back of my mind. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone. — Pambylah (posted on November 20, 2005)

I am over three years out and I have the same dull throb in the same area
as you, I'm curious to find out what this may be, I thought it was just my
kidneys--then I read your post this morning and I'm thinking what a
coincidence. Maybe someone out there can shine some light.

I would call your surgeon's office and talk to the nurse. they might know
and you would feel better.
