Heather, I am a manager for Goodwill in Ohio. I sell plus size outfits as
do all goodwills I have stepped in. Grant it, the plus sizes go fast. Just
find out when they are putting out the most clothes, and go around that
time or ask the manager if she can help you in any way.Good luck!

The Goodwill's here in Arizona have some plus size clothes, and a good
place to find nice work clothes is Consignment Shops.

Hi,
There is a clothing exchange where you get clothes for FREE on this
website! Its pretty neat but you can put your old clothes on here also..
cant sell them but its great to help someone in need.. just go to the top
of the page and click on "your journey" then click on "post
ops " and you will see the clothing exchange site somewhere in
there.. Good Luck

does your doctor have a support group? maybe you could ask them to start a
clothing exchange at your group meeting.if your doctor doesn't have a
support group, ask if you can leave a memo at the doctor's office with your
name and number for people who want to exchange clothing. i have given away
alot of clothing this way.

I started out as a size 28/30 and after 1 year post op and -140 pounds am
down to a size 16W. I didn't want to spend a fortune on clothes, so I've
bought almost everything on ebay. if you go to www.ebay.com and search for
plus size womens clothes, or plus size lot, it will come up with a lot of
groups of clothes that you can get relatively cheap!

I wear the same sizes and have tons of trouble finding affordable clothing.
I work in a lab and have found a place that will customize my uniforms if
needed. I have also found a few consignment shops that sell plus size
clothing. I thought I had seen something one time on this site also about
used clothing. Hope that helps.

Do you have a Fashion Bug near you? I bought lots of really reasonable
clothing on clearance there. Shop any stores that have really great
clearance bargains. You'll only need them for a little while!

Try your local YWCA. I work at our local Y, and we have a thrift store
right next door to our building. The women in shelter can go in and
"shop". And what we don't give away, we sell at bargain prices as
a way to raise funds. Our shop is open once a week, and once I'm post-op,
I'm sure I'll be a regular fixture in there while I'm on my way down.

I am still pre-op but have been alot of different sizes over the years and
I stretched my clothing budget by using things like belts to chinch in the
waist of to big tunics. Also, taking in the waistband of pants in pretty
easy with a few stiches by hand or machine. Adding a more fitted tee shirt
with a larger button up top, left open, looks good even if the over blouse
is oversized. I think I am gonna feel really strange getting rid of some
of my old "fat" clothes when I am post-op

Heather,
I had surgery in August and am down about 85 pounds now. I started out in
sizes 26 - 28 and would be happy to send some to you. Feel free to email
me privately.

There are Plus size consignment shops. Look in the phone book and call
through all the shops in your area. You can get some amazing deals! The
one I found in Richmond, Va. got me through the first year. And then you
can sell them when you are done.

Another good inexpensive place to buy plus sized clothing is Marshalls, AJ
Wright and TJ Maxx. Skirts will usually fit for more pounds lost, but I
can usually pick up a pair of pants for $10 so it's not to expenisive to
have ones that fit right.

Ebay!!!! There are a lot of bariatric patients like myself buying and
selling our clothes on ebay. I have purchased like new jeans for 5 bucks
plus shipping for a total of 8 bucks. I sold some of my clothes that I had
only worn a couple of times. I also hit the sales at department stores but
eBay has been wonderful.
Oh, I have also hit the Salvation Army, Goodwill and other second hand
shops. You would be amazed at the nice stuff one can find if you look
closely.

Try looking at some of the clearance sales. Kohl's is greaat this time of
year and some things are just like this years styles, but they are left
from last yeaar. Also, try Garage Sales. I got most of my current winter
wardrobe from the last year for about $50.00.
