Question:
CAN YOU GIVE MY SOME IDEALS ON DIFFERENT SOFT FOODS TO TRY
I HAD A STRICTURE CAUSING ME TO VOMIT AND NOW I SCARED TO EAT. I'M AT THE POINT WHERE I'M TRIED OF OF APPLESAUCE. COULD ANYONE GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS. I EAT MACARONI SALAD, CHEF SALAD, TOAST, AND LOT OF APPLESAUCE. — TAMMIE B. (posted on July 17, 2003)

Low Fat Refried beans, with melted cheese on top. Add a dolup of low fat
sour cream and you have heaven :-) Of course I can only make tiny portions
of this but it does satisy my taste buds.

I agree with the previous poster... the refried beans and cheese got me
through right after surgery and also when I was recovering from a
stricture. I also recommend cottage cheese, if you like it. And bean or
lentil soups... they have protein, are usually low fat, and you can spicy
or jazz them up with hot sauces, sourcream, and cheese, if you like. Black
bean soup is one of my favorites. I also love a Siscilian (sp?) Lentil Soup
that comes as a dry mix... when I'm ready to eat it I top it with a
sprinkling of grated parmesan. Its delicious. If you don't like any of
these... email me... and I can send you some recipes, if you like.

I took boiled eggs and blended them in the blender with a touch of mustard
and lowfat mayo (like egg salad without the relish) and did the same with
tuna. It blended well and was so good after so long on the liquids. I ate
and still eat tons of light yogurt and cottage cheese. Jamie

Try Taco Bell pintos with cheese or rice; delicious!

Try heating a tasty soy-based "cream" soup (flavors like
broccoli, mushroom) with a raw scrambled egg in it - stir constantly while
heating until the egg's cooked - it's really good. Also, a well-seasoned
hummus tasted wonderful. Both of these are low-fat and relatively
high-protein.

My nutritionist suggested cheese or bean enchiladas, but make them
yourself, so they are lower in fat. Also, whole wheat pasta with ricotta
or cottage cheese and tomato sauce. Pinto beans mashed up with salsa,
cheese and sour cream. I like mexican. Omelets with deli ham and cheese,
pancakes maybe with a little peanut butter. YUMMY!
Shrimp cocktail, tuna noodle casserole is soft and higher in protein.
Chicken casserole with veggies. Deviled eggs sprinkled with chili or curry
powder are also SOOOO yummy.
