I liked my binder because it held everything together (I had an open rny
with gallbladder taken out) and I felt like it gave me more support when I
went to sit down or stand up. As for the pain, I don't think it made it
more or less. But I was so drugged up, I could be wrong!!!!

Yes, I used my abdominal binder. I used it round the clock the first 4
weeks. It gave great support and I just felt better when I had it on. It
did not help with the pain the first week, at least not for me!

The binder was a life saver. All I can remember of the recovery room was
thanking the person that put that binder on. Make sure that you request a
binder.

The binder was a life saver. When I would take it off my stomach would
start to hurt some. In fact I had to wean myself off of wearing it so that
my stomach muscles would get use to not having it on. It also will help
with you scar as far as it seperating. Wear until your doctor tells you
that you can go without it.

The binder is the one thing I was most grateful for. It did more to make my
life bearable the first few days than almost anything. Get it, Use it..
Learn to love it :) Good luck

Oh YES. It helped me a lot. It eased the pain of the strain on the
muscles. I would highly recommend it for open surgeries.

Just for a different point of view. I did not like my binder. It made
things worse for me. I wore it for two days right when I got out of the
hospital and could not stand it anymore. My inscion is 6 inches and was not
vertical. It is under my left rib cage area. It did not make it easier for
me but I know a lot of people swear by them esp. the vertical cuts! Smiles,

Hanes makes a great high waist underwear. They run about 10.00 a pair at
Walmart. I love them they hold well but are VERY comfortable.

My binder was wonderful!!! If I stood up without it, I felt
like my stomach would burst open. I was more secure with it
and had less pain that without it. I used it for about
2 weeks. On the other hand, my husband hated his. I think
it's just a matter of personal taste and comfort. Try it and
if you don't like it, get rid of it!!!!

YES YES YES!!! I am one week post op today and my doctor gave me a binder
yesterday. The only time I took it off was to go to sleep! I know this
sounds crazy, but it feels like it's keeping all of my insides in tact.
Get one, you'll love it!

I wore the binder but I have extremely sensitive skin but also tend to
sweat alot. I developed a terrible rash that ended up as a yeast rash so
for me the binder was more a problem than not. I tried wearing a t-shirt
under it but it was too late because the rash had already started.
