Question:
Is my Pouch Stretched?
I can eat about 12 to 16 ounces of food. I'm scared. Is my pouch stretching? Did I do all this for nothing? I havent lost any weight in a month. I have lost 144lbs so far. I work out for 2 hours a day five days a week with another hour of weights twice a week. I dont eat sugar. I do try to have a piece of fruit everyday. I drink wine once or twice a week. I have to force myself to NOT Snack in between. I try to eat 4 times a day with 4 hours in between. I had my surgery almost a year ago. Is my pouch stretching? Is the wine a mistake? My Doc retired 2 months after my surgery. I'm kinda lost out here. I'd love to hear from ya'll!!! Camille — CamilleSweetyPi (posted on May 21, 2012)

144 lbs in a year is excellant. I am 4 years out and can definetely eat
more and my dr said that is the way it should be. now i no longer drink cuz
it tuned into a problem for me. i wanted that instead of food but i wound
up drinking way too much. i traded one addiction for another, so please be
careful

Your weight loss was a positive thing. I think everyone goes through the
period of eating more. I eat a lot more than in the beginning. I went from
310 to 156 now I weigh 168, but I feel good and I monitor my weight daily.
If I go over 170 In go back to liquids for a week ( nothing but protein
shakes). You did the right thing in choosing to have the surgery (it saved
my life). Don't beat yourself up. You are doing great !! Just set a goal
(within 5lbs for example) and stick to it. If you go over take a look at
what you are eating. I was told not to drink alcohol at all. Good luck !!
you can do it. !!!

I am 11-1/2 years post op and I'm still wondering how much my pouch has
stretched. It has definitely stretched from the size of the egg. I can
eat more, depending on the density of the food. Today I feel everything is
stuck and my stomach below my breasts is pooched out and I'm very
uncomfortable. I'm afraid to drink because of what all I've heard; that is
one thing I definitely gave up; however, food, especially sweets and bread
is definitely another problem. Good luck!

When I asked my doctor about the pouch stretching and gaining weight back
after surgery, she told me it doesn't really stretch and people usually
gain the weight from grazing--eating more often, rather than 3 meals. I'm
only 15 weeks post op and already I'm feeling disappointed with the weight
lose. 25 lbs since surgery?? Be happy with your success. 144lbs is a lot
of weight to loss. Congratulations.
