I had surgery to repair hiatel, but I had RNY surgery. I also had 40% of
my stomache removed due to an old Molina band (original band done in the
80's) that had been absorbed by my stomache. Not sure if you would have
anymore/less pain with the sleeve, but I can say I had some pain
afterwards, just like any other surgery done laproscopically, there is some
pain. Everyday though, it was more bareable, I was given a medicine ball
that hung around my neck, that pumped meds into me directly (my Dr. gives
to all his patients). I was also given some liquid meds, but never took
them. I had my surgery on 9/3/09 Friday before Labor day weekend, and was
back to work the day after Labor day. The week out from surgery, I was
sore mainly trying to get in and out of bed, but the more I walked, and was
moving around the better I felt. I am happy to say I've lost 85% of my
weight, which is a major success for a revision surgery, my Dr. is very
pleased (as am I) with my results. Good luck with your surgery, and write
in your journal here so we can keep up on your success. So many people do
not do that, and it's such a shame. I know many have said they do not put
their pictures on here for one reason or another, but you do not have to
make it public for all the world to see, but I go back and look at my
writings from time to time, and it's just a great reminder for all I went
thru. Again, best of luck in your journey!

I had a lap band revised to a vsg and hiatal hernia repaired about six
months ago in San Francisco. In my opinion the hiatal hernia repair part
was the most painful to me. Even now I'm sore when I workout in the gym.The
revision was the least painful and I think it was do to Dr Cirangles
expertise ( although he has his rude moments). But I figured the pain from
the hernia that I had before was much greater than now and that it's a
healing process. Don't worry about the surgery, the benifitd surely out way
a little pain. I requested pain meds right after the surgery once and I
really didn't need them afterwards. I advise that you try yoga or streching
methods six weeks after your surgery or whenever your surgeon says you can
start an exercise program. Stretching has helping me so much. Good luck !
Everything will come out great.
