When should I have my period again I am 5 weeks post from RNY?

I had RNY of Feb 18 and I was told I would possible start spotting.I did for a few days. Now it is the end of March and I haven't started at all this month? I was wondering if this is normal? I have had a tubal so I don't think I could be pregnant. Will someone please give me some information.I see my Dr on Thursday but gosh that seems so far away!    — davonjack (posted on March 28, 2010)

You have no information on your profile which would help. I can only tell you that I was in menopause and had not had a period in 2 years but after 7 weeks I did have a period. Have not had any since. It depends on how much weight you have lost as the hormones are locked up in the fat cells.

Your body has been thru major surgery! You are a little over a month out from RNY. Hormones are crazy, anesthesia is finally out of your system. Think of the stress your mind and body have been thru this last month. My RNY 8 months ago, missed 1 period and then back like clockwork. I wouldn't think you could be pregnant with tubes being tied unless you just had them tied. Take a nice deep breath, relax and talk to your Dr on Thursday. Be good to yourself. Congrats on the courage to have the surgery.

Hi Natasha....I think the other poster who said you didn't have anything on your profile meant that most of us do an "introduction" - telling how old we are, and giving a short paragraph or so telling why we decided to have WLS and what we hope to accomplish by it. If your age was on your profile, it might have given her some kind of an idea whether you might be going through menopause or something like that.

I am not sure how old you are but I am 38 and had RNY Dec.09 and started mine right away like the day I came home and have had one every month like clock work. Have you called your doctor on this issue? If not I would and ask if you are worried about it. Me I would love to never have one again But thats just me. However, my doctor told me it could be off due to the weight loss that is happening so call your doctor.
