Question:
Why So Much Worry

I wish I could eat like I used to. See I have a pouch now and it only alows me to eat 2 or 3 bites it seems. I am not sure how anyone can eat over that without bringing it up. I know I can't right now.I had RNY about 1 month ago.    — smokeybonefan (posted on February 3, 2010)

I have not had surgery yet but from what I've heard, your pouch will naturally stretch over time and at about a year and a half to two years, you will be able to eat pretty much whatever you previously ate with some restrictions of course... my advice would be to follow your doctors orders and do not even try to test the capacity of your new pouch. Best of luck to you :)

You're perfectly normal for 1 month out. It took me a good 3 months to get in more than a few tablespoons at a time. But it will happen, I promise. You are still healing inside and the first poster is partially correct. The pouch actually grows over time, not stretch. Here is a great website from a fellow OH member, Pam Tremble. She has done extensive research and freely shares her findings with the rest of us. Check it out for more info on your new pouch: http://pamtremble.blogspot.com/2008/09/understanding-pouch.html

Embrace the fact you aren't hungry. However you must get in your protein and water. In time you can eat more, but not too much more. I eat about 5 oz at each meal and when I have a protein drink I drink about 7 oz. Good luck!!!
