Has anyone had a prolonged period following RNY

Yep, 2 reasons--
1) You just put your body through extreme stress, and when our body is
"stressed" it does weird things.
2) As you lose weight, all those fat soluable hormones (estrogen) get
released from it's storage and triggers your period.
I had mine for 6 straight weeks, not heavy the whole time, but I basically
couldn't go a day without protection for that length of time.
Deal with it for a while, the weight loss is well worth it!

my current weight...I am now back to where I was before surgery..pre
menopausal. I am 45.

Poster #1 is right. Hormones released back into your body!! I was in the
hospital for 5 days, went home, started on day 7 and stopped (flow and
spotting) on day 46. Fun. Fun. Depo shot finally kicked it all back into
place.

Not only did my daughter have prolonged periods but TWO unplanned
pregnancies. Women need to consider the hormone factor along with age and
cover all the possibilities.
