I just finished the 5 day. Did not lose a "significant" amount of weight, but......it did kick my eating back into line. Made my appetite and satiety get back to where it should be, and definitely cleansed my system of carbs so that I got over craving them. I do have to admit that I went through a sort of carb withdrawl that week, since I has strayed a bit and my system gotten used to carbs sneaking and a being tolerated. I'm glad I did it. Not a huge weight loss tool, but great reminder about how we're taught to eat, and I swear it shrunk my "stomach" as it took less to make me feel satisfied......or was it that the carbs weren't there?? Not sure - happy I did it however. Oh, Google the "5 Day Pouch Test" and you'll get a link to the plan.

The 5 DPT is not designed as a diet to lose weight although some do because of the restriction of carbs on the 5DPT...Carbs hold a lot of water and the when you cut all carbs from your diet, you lose water! As soon as you add back any carbs, you then retain the water that carbs hold in your body! Most people will lose 3-5 lbs doing the 5DPT...I lost 4 and gained back 3 immediately on day 5 as soon as I added back my complex carbs....Then with all the restriction I gained back and freedom from simple carb cravings, I went on to lose several extra pounds I had gained by cutting CALORIES (mostly in meat fats and condiments/sauces/coffee creamers etc) and using a food journal to make sure I was keeping my calories on target...I maintain 165 lb weight at about 1600-1800 calories average (for the last 5.4 years) ...To lose weight I had to cut back 500 calories daily and work out to lose weight steadily...It worked and I got back to my regular weight of 165 lbs...Doing the 5 DPT is not a weight loss diet...
