Question:
low blood sugars
I have been adding frozen fruit to my yogurt for the last few days and yesterday i had frozen fruit with yogurt that i had a nap, i was having such a strange sleep, i felt drunk and confused, not really sleeping but not really awake either. When i woke up and sat up i felt dizzy and unstable on my feet. Could this be attributed to low blood sugars? I was getting no natural sugar in my diet since surgery and now all of a sudden i am, I am wondering if anyone else had these issues? I think i will get myself a glucometer and check my sugar every now and than. — sassy1696 (posted on May 6, 2009)

These symptoms COULD be attributed to low blood sugar. It is hard to tell.
They also could be attributed to low blood pressure, or several other
problems. IT IS a good idea to get a glucometer to check you blood sugar
levels, just be certain that you are checking the levels correctly. Often
times, it is difficult for doctors to SPOT low sugar problems because they
will check you while you are at the office, but you are not likely to be
experiencing the problem at the time. If you bring him the results from
your TESTS, it makes diagnosis of blood sugar problems EASIER for the
doctor. Just be sure to ask your doctor what the FASTING blood sugar rate
should be, and check your blood sugar levels at the correct times. Also
check them when you feel these spells come on. Good luck, and I hope all
is well. If it turns out to be blood pressure problems, often just making
certain that you have had enough fluid to drink will help resolve the
issue. Not always, however. Be certain to check with your physician and
try to cover all bases. Hugh
