Question:
Lost in all the info...lol

I had RNY 8 plus years ago. I regained about 70 pounds of the 113 pounds I lost in my 6th year post-op following a long year of family illness, death, hysterectomy, major move...you name it!!! My beginning weight was 326. 1 yr. postop I was down 113 pounds...I regained the 7% or so which put me at about 220-225. I was a little disappointed that I did not lose more but I was happy to have my life back. I began regaining almost before my hyster. scar had healed, and did not stop for almost 8 months. Then, to make matters worse I ruptured a disk in my back which bought most of my physical activity to a stop. I even had to quit work. I feel so defeated. I did not know about the possibility of revision until just recently when I was told about this site. I guess my question is...where do I start? I can just barely stand the idea of another surgery...and I am not at all excited about this...but I am only 49 years old. I am not about ready to sit on my butt and get old...LOL. Thanks...linda    — cakebaby59 (posted on January 3, 2009)

I'm in the same boat as you - while the details are different, the results are the same. I had my RNY 6/01, was forced to stop walking (but for different reasons) and couldn't afford a gym. If you don't have a nutritionist, see if you can use the one who works with your original surgeon, which is what I did recently. I've been thinking that I need to go back on liquids for a few days then start back with the post-surgical diet. . . . Please keep in touch. P.S. Don't think about any other surgery yet. You're still ahead of where you were and a revision will probably not be needed, anyway.

Call your surgeon. It is my understanding that they do revisions if you've gained 100 lbs or more and if you never made it to goal. Don't wait for that to happen. You can go back to basics and get back on track. It is up to you, after all, what you make of it. WLS is only a tool. Only you can make the right choices on what you put in your mouth, how much and how often. Good luck.
