Question:
update

thanks for all the concern. the day after the last post i made i started throwing up blood. i went to the e r dec 20 and have been there since. they are confused by my ct since they dont do this surgery here. i have had several test done and they say my incision on the inside has open a little, i have an infection in my incision and i have a gap between my old/new stomach so anything i drink/eat leaks to my old stomack. i have begged them to reverse it but they say they cant. when i first went in on dec 20 they said it was life threating. i work in this hospital and snuck down to check my email but may not be able to relply again for a while. they say i may be in here for months. wish i had never done this.    — pinky_711 (posted on December 31, 2008)

Shelley, Relax. Just concentrate on getting well. Since they don't do that surgery there have the docs consult with your surgeon or perhaps have the surgeon come to you; this is IMPORTANT. Sounds like it still may be life threatening. Months in the hospital sounds like they want to find an answer as much as you do. For now, I would stay put and let them help me AS LONG AS IT MAKES SENSE TO YOU. If they do something you find questionable have them explain it fully to you. I will put you in God's hands and pray for you daily to recover. Good Luck and God Bless, vinnigirl

This is one of the potential complications we dread having. Im sure glad your feeling well enough to sneak down and make a post. I agree with everyone and should make sure your surgeon knows your in the hospital. My hope is that you do well soon and you dont regret the surgery. Please keep us posted

If they don't do the surgery in this hospital, or if you feel they are not equipped to handle your emergent situation- get transferred to a hospital where they do. Call your bariatric surgeon now, let him know what's going on and perhaps he would have you transferred to his care. Certainly, the current docs should want to discuss the case with him at the very least. I am so sorry that you have had to experience this horrible complication. I wish you the very best of luck. Shelly, If you can't yourself, get someone, ANYONE, to contact your surgeon immediately. As others have told you here, this could be life threatening & it's Your life that's being threatened. Please get yourself under your surgeon's care whether it be to reverse the surgery or correct what has happened to it. Take care & know that we care, Huggybear1

Hi Shelly, You need to contact or have someone contact your surgeon, ASAP this sounds serious, your kids/grandkids need you! Once you get ahold of your surgeon, you should be transferred to a hospital that he has privelges in/ or have the doctors thier contact your surgeon and they should come up with a care plan. Good Luck! My girlfriend had the rny done when it 1st wnet laproscopic, and she ended up opened rny, and had blood clots, but she said she would do it again in a heart beat. once you get better, hopefully things willbe on the right track, and you will on your journey. God Bless! My thoughts and prayers are with you! lisa

Hi Shelly, I wanted to let you know I am pulling for you. I too am regretting this surgery with every ounce of my soul. I have had one complication after another and really wonder why in the world I chose this option, at least prior to the surgery I could move without hurting.... I do know one thing tho, you can't turn back, it's already been done and the only thing we can do is stay as strong as possible and get healthy again... I have been battling with a Post Op infection since the 14th of December, no one will ever know just how horrible it is unless they have lived it themselves. Please stay strong and get back to your Dr. the ones that know how to help you with your situation. You will make it and I will be praying for you. Marcie

Shelly, I am so sorry this happened to you. I went in for surgery for RNY on 11/16/08 and when I woke up in the recovery room the surgeon was standing over me saying that he wasnt able to do the procedure because my organs were upside down (malrotation).I had the cuts on my stomach, but no RNY procedure, and was sent home that day. I then got a bill a few weeks later for $22,699.00. I do not know what you are going through, but I pray that things will get better for you. weightloss4three
