Question:
14 day pre-op diet - guys I am struggling.
Any suggestions on what to eat for the 14 day liquid diet. I know that protein is important, but any suggestions would help? — slfleming (posted on October 17, 2008)

My doc let me have up to eight sugar free carnation breakfast drinks a day.
I could have all the broth, sugar free koolaid/popscicles I could stand.
Yes, It is hard. I'm a meataterian so it was really hard. In the two week
period required for this diet, I feel off the wagon twice. Got up, wipe
myself off and got back on track the next meal. Lost 34 lbs before surgery.
If I can do it, surely you can do it too! Good luck on you diet and your
upcoming surgery!

You can do this. Just remember it will make your surgery go that much
smoother. I recently did the diet and was really surprised at how well I
did. My surgery went well and I am thankful. Whenever I had thoughts of
food I just did something to distract myself. Go for a walk, read, find a
hobby...whatever it takes. Good luck.

Hope I am not giving any wrong onfo. Had surgery 12 days ago. Started
going crazy after a week. Called my Dr. s office and asked for help.
Anything that is liquified. My favorite is cream of chicken soup from a
package watered down in a mug, watered down fat free refried beans(use milk
if you prefer) in addition to my protien drinks. I needed substance. Ask
your Dr. first but this did the trick for me. Just make sure there are no
lumps.

I did lots and lots of sugar-free popsicles, jello, Crystal Lite, Protein
Shakes but I would add some Davinci Sugar-free Syrup. I had probs as well
with this pre-op my doc told me to try these Control bars at Walgreen's.
They have an appetite suppressant in them, sorry I can't think of the name
but they are sold with the diabetic foods and supplies. They were great in
the evening when I had the hardest time with the diet. Also try and stay
busy it's very hard to do but when I scheduled alot of things to do I found
I wasn't thinking so much about it, very hard but was soooooo soooooo worth
it!
